Why My Choir Director is an Asshole
So, rewind to the beginning of the year. Guidance has raped my schedule, so I’m not in film or choir. I’m scrambling to get into Mixed Choir, because I like their music more. However, that will involve my language situation getting really messed up. MN, choir director, tells me, “Luna, why don’t you go into Women’s Ensemble instead? There’s no schedule conflict, it’s and Honors class, and you’d have the same opportunities as anyone in Mixed. You’re one of our strong singers, and we need that in Women’s. You’d be a valuable addition.” I take those words to heart, but manage to get into Mized and straighten out the language.
So now, it is time for Region Choir applications. MN tells us that Mixed will be the only choir allowed to try out for Regions, because “we are the best.” Excuse me? Didn’t he insist I’d have the same opportunities? Not being able to try out for Regions because my schedule got messed up would be a HUGE cause for me to be pissed. I’m pissed now because a lot of my friends are in Women’s and wanted to try out, and now they can’t.
Also, the freshmen can’t try out. I can understand that, but JZ is pissed because she and KZ, her sister, will never sing in the same choir. J. is graduating and K.’s dream was to sing in the same choir as her sister.
Did I mention MN is getting tenure next September?
